Common Health Problems in the Maine Coon

As with all breeds of the domestic cat, the Maine Coon unfortunately can have its health issues. It is the responsibility of the breeder to eradicate or minimise these problems as much as possible. The only way to achieve this is by regular health testing, and only breeding from healthy individuals. Any cat found to be suffering from or carrying a disease or disorder, should be neutered and therefore removed from the gene pool. The following are some of the most common diseases or disorders affecting the Maine Coon:
